St. Louis, MO -- Sophomore Brady Thomas (Mt. Pulaski, Ill./Mt. Pulaski) [Lincoln Christian University] delievered in the 9th minute from a penalty kick shot to take the early lead of 1-0. The Red Devils fell 4-2 in full-time to the Harris-Stowe State University Hornets.
Eureka started off strong, with most of their power on the defensive third. Sophomore goalkeeper Daniel Johnson (Eureka, Ill./Eureka) saved eight of the Hornets' shots in the first half and another nine in the second half. Two of the second half saves were collected from a penalty kick drawn by Harris-Stowe.
Freshman defender Tim Johnson (Peoria, Ill./Notre Dame) wrapped up the Red Devils' scoring in the first half with his third collegiate goal in the 20th minute.
The Red Devils were out-shot 40-3 with all three of the Red Devils' shots being on frame. D. Johnson's 17 saves is a career-high for saves in a single game.
