Eureka Victorious In Final Non-Conference Game

Dubuque, IA -- A tenth minute goal by freshman Kyle Shanahan (Pekin, Ill./Pekin) led the Red Devil's advantage in a 5-3 victory over Emmaus Bible College Thursday night. The victory continues the men's soccer record-breaking season of wins, resting at seven prior to tomorrow's final St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match.

Possession remained constant throughout the match between the two team, with multiple breakthroughs by either team. Eureka made a successful attempt at goal in the tenth minute, then once again in the 29th minute with the unassisted goal by James Bowen (Homer Glen, Ill./Seneca). Seven minutes later, Emmaus' Tyler Tucker wrapped up the first half in the 36th minute. 

The second half was played similar to the first; both teams remained in equal possession. Brady Thomas (Mt. Pulaski, Ill./Mt. Pulaski) scored the opening goal in the second half at the 53rd minute and agian in the 65th minute. Tim Johnson (Peoria, Ill./Notre Dame) scored in the 85th minute. Emmaus scored two goals in the second half, one conceded by Daniel Johnson (Eureka, Ill./Eureka) and the other by Chase Krones (Peoria Ill./Peoria).

D. Johnson collected two saves in the first half. Krones entered in the 80th minute and collected his first save of the season.

Thomas, Bowen, and T. Johnson led the Red Devils with five shots on frame a piece. Johnson led the team in shots with thirteen. 

The Red Devils will finish the season with the final SLIAC match versus Blackburn tomorrow as part of Senior Day. The festivities will take place between the men's and women's game, approximately 3 pm. Kick off is slated for 1 pm.
