Byrd and Brown Receive All-SLIAC Honors

ST. LOUIS, MO. – Eureka's Emaryon Byrd (Peoria, Ill./Manual) and Peewee Brown (Peoria, Ill./Manual) have been selected to the SLIAC All-Conference team. Byrd earned Second Team honors, while Brown was named to the Third Team.
In his first season with the Red Devils, junior Emaryon Byrd has been a dominant presence on both ends of the court. He leads the SLIAC in total rebounds with 216, offensive rebounds with 75, and defensive rebounds with 141, while averaging 15.0 points and 8.3 rebounds per game. Byrd has recorded 13 double doubles this season, the 14th most in NCAA Division III men's basketball and the most in the SLIAC. His 389 total points are tied for fifth in the conference. On Dec. 4 against Greenville, Byrd posted a career-high 30 points, and he grabbed a career-best 17 rebounds against Principia on Dec. 7.
Senior Peewee Brown earned Third Team recognition after another strong season for the Red Devils. This marks his third consecutive SLIAC All-Conference selection, following a Second Team nod in 2022-23 and a Third Team selection in 2023-24. Brown averaged 16.0 points and 5.5 rebounds per game, ranking sixth in the SLIAC in scoring. He also ranks 40th in NCAA Division III in free throws made with 124. Brown's season was highlighted by a 38-point performance against Greenville on Dec. 4. He posted three double doubles this season, most recently at Fontbonne on Feb. 19, when he posted 21 points and 11 rebounds. He also led Eureka in scoring with 23 points in last night's SLIAC tournament quarterfinal win over MUW.
Junior guard Jalen Johnson (Rock Falls, Ill./Rock Falls) was the Red Devils' representative on the All-Sportsmanship Team.
Eureka will now turn its focus to a key matchup against No. 1 seed Greenville in the SLIAC Tournament semifinals tomorrow at 7:30 p.m., hosted by Greenville.
