EUREKA, Ill. – The Eureka men's basketball team fell to Spalding 76-61 on Thursday evening, as the Golden Eagles secured their second win over the Red Devils this season.
Spalding jumped out to a quick 10-0 lead, forcing Eureka to play from behind. The Red Devils struggled to find their rhythm early, falling behind 25-4 before mounting a response. A crucial 10-0 run, fueled by Peewee Brown (Peoria, Ill./Manual) and Andrew Coker (Washington, Ill./Washington), helped cut the deficit to single digits. Despite their late push, Eureka entered halftime trailing 31-20.
The Red Devils looked to rally in the second half, but an early technical foul allowed Spalding to extend its lead. Brown provided a spark with a layup, and Eureka fought to chip away at the deficit, but the visitors maintained control down the stretch. In the end, the Red Devils were unable to mount a comeback, falling 76-61.
