Red Devils Open Road Trip with 80-69 Loss to Lyon

BATESVILLE, Ark. - The Eureka men's basketball team fell on the road to Lyon 80-69 on Thursday evening.

In the first half, the Red Devils' Raymond Bandzoumouna (Lisle, Ill./Lisle.) initiated a scoring run with an early 3-pointer, followed by a layup and a successful free throw, contributing to a 6-2 lead. Emaryon Byrd (Peoria, Ill./Manual) maintained momentum with a defensive rebound and a 3-pointer, pushing the lead to 12-4. Later in the half, Dylan Logsdon (Meridian, Idaho/Mountain View) and Jacob Gonzalez (Los Angeles, Calif./Chatsworth Charter) added fast-break points, and Micah Bruer (Washington, Ill./Washington) knocked down a crucial 3-pointer to extend the lead back to 4 points. Despite a late surge from the Scots, the Red Devils held a lead at the end of the half, finishing with a 35-32 advantage.

In the second half, the Red Devils began with a jumper by Peewee Brown (Peoria, Ill./Manual), establishing an early advantage. Despite a series of fouls and turnovers, the Red Devils managed to stay competitive early with notable contributions from Ben Carter (Morton, Ill./Morton), who scored a layup to cut Lyon's lead to just two points. Emaryon Byrd also made significant plays, including a layup at and a 3-pointer in the final minutes. Jonah Lauff (Pana, Ill./Pana) added a 3-pointer, and Micah Bruer closed the half with a 3-pointer, but it would not be enough for Eureka as the Scots controlled the second half to win by a final score of 80-69.

Emaryon Byrd recorded 19 points, making 8 of 14 shots, including 3 of 4 from beyond the arc. Byrd also led the team in rebounding with 11 boards. This performance marked Byrd's 8th double-double of the season. Peewee Brown also made a significant impact on the game. Brown contributed 6 points and was a defensive presence with 2 steals.
