Red Devils Fall to Spalding 81-63 on the Road

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Eureka men's basketball team fell to Spalding 81-63 on Saturday on the road.

Eureka started the first half with a strong defensive presence, highlighted by Raymond Bandzoumouna's (Lisle, Ill./Lisle) block and Peewee Brown's (Peoria, Ill./Manual) several key defensive rebounds and a steal at the 16-minute mark. Offensively, Jacob Gonzalez (Los Angeles, Calif./Chatsworth Charter) contributed significantly with a quick surge, scoring four consecutive points to bring the Red Devils within five points at 13-8. Later in the half, Dylan Logsdon (Meridian, Idaho/Mountain View) made back-to-back 3-pointers, assisted by Micah Bruer (Washington, Ill./Washington), to narrow the gap to 23-19. Despite these efforts, the Red Devils ended the half trailing 41-29, with Peewee Brown adding a late jumper to close the scoring for the half.

Eureka began the second half with a series of free throws by Jacob Gonzalez, narrowing the gap to 32-41. Ben Carter (Morton, Ill./Morton) and Jaxson Provost (Kankakee, Ill./Bishop McNamara) contributed crucial 3-pointers, with Provost adding another in the final minutes to bring the score to 58-79. Peewee Brown and Jonah Lauff (Pana, Ill./Pana) added late points, but it was not enough as the Red Devils fell 63-81.

Peewee Brown emerged as a standout performer for the Red Devils, delivering an impressive performance with a team-high 15 points. Brown also contributed significantly on defense with four steals. Dylan Logsdon also made notable contributions, scoring eight points and assisting on three occasions. Jaxson Provost matched Logsdon's point total, also recording eight points, and shared the team lead with three assists. Ben Carter added six points and was effective from beyond the arc, hitting two 3-pointers.
