Red Devils Fall to Webster 68-48

EUREKA, Ill. - The Eureka men's basketball team fell to Webster, 68-48, on Wednesday night.

In the first half, Eureka and Webster remained close early on, with Micah Bruer (Washington, Ill./Washington) hitting a 3-pointer at 18:12 to bring the score to 4-3 in favor of the Gorloks. The Red Devils' Peewee Brown (Peoria, Ill./Manual) contributed early with a layup and a jumper, keeping the score tied at 12-12 with six minutes remaining in the half. Despite Jacob Gonzalez (Los Angeles, Calif./Chatsworth Charter) adding four points near the end of the half, the Gorloks pulled ahead, finishing the half with a 33-20 lead over the Red Devils.

The Red Devils' Micah Bruer started the action in the second half with a layup, assisted by Dylan Logsdon (Meridian, Idaho/Mountain View). Raymond Bandzoumouna Jr. (Lisle, Ill./Lisle) contributed with a jumper and a layup, while Emaryon Byrd (Peoria, Ill./Manual) added a pair of free throws. Sam DeJesus knocked down a pair of 3-pointers late in the half, but it wasn't enough as the Red Devils fell 68-48.

Blake Logsdon (Meridian, Idaho/Mountain View) made an impact off the bench with two steals. Ben Carter (Morton, Ill./Morton) also was strong defensively, matching Logsdon with two steals in the game. Peewee Brown tied for the team lead in points, scoring eight, while also contributing two steals and securing five rebounds. Sam DeJesus (Delavan, Ill./Delavan) showed efficiency, also scoring eight points on 75% shooting from the field, including two successful 3-point shots.

The Red Devils will face Spalding in their next game on Satuurday, Jan. 11, at 3 p.m. ET in Louisville, Ky. Spalding, who is currently 4-1 in SLIAC play, will present another challenging opponent for Eureka.
