Red Devils Complete Season Sweep of Blackburn

EUREKA, Ill. - The Eureka men's basketball team defeated Blackburn 79-67 on Saturday, completing a season sweep of the Beavers.
Eureka began the first half with a strong start, highlighted by Dylan Logsdon's (Meridian, Idaho/Mountain View) early scoring contributions, including a deep jump shot, a layup, and a free throw, putting the team up 5-3. Logsdon matched his career-high with 10 points in the game. The team maintained momentum with Micah Bruer's (Washington, Ill./Washington) defensive efforts, securing two steals that led to fast-break opportunities, contributing to the Red Devils' 13-6 lead. As the half progressed, Eureka's Emaryon Byrd (Peoria, Ill./Manual) and Jaxson Provost (Kankakee, Ill./Bishop McNamara) capitalized on turnovers, allowing the team to extend their lead. Ben Carter's (Morton, Ill./Morton) three-pointer at the end of the half helped Eureka secure a 31-27 lead over Blackburn.
In the second half, the Red Devils scored consistently, with Raymond Bandzoumouna Jr. (Lisle, Ill./Lisle) and Emaryon Byrd contributing early with layups and defensive rebounds. Byrd recorded his 7th double-double of the season, leading the team with 19 points and 10 rebounds. The team pulled ahead with contributions from Dylan Logsdon and Jacob Gonzalez (Los Angeles, Calif./Chatsworth Charter), who each scored key layups midway through the half. Jonah Lauff (Pana, Ill./Pana) added to the momentum with two consecutive 3-pointers, extending Eureka's lead. Ben Carter, Blake Logsdon, and Andrew Coker (Washington, Ill./Washington) all contributed to the scoring down the stretch, helping the Red Devils maintain a solid lead and finish the game with a 79-67 victory over Blackburn.
Emaryon Byrd led the Red Devils with a strong performance, contributing 19 points and securing 10 rebounds. Byrd's efficiency was highlighted by making 9 of 14 field goals. Jaxson Provost also delivered a notable game, with 5 assists, 2 steals, and 5 points. Micah Bruer was effective defensively, recording 2 steals alongside his 4 points. Jonah Lauff was a key contributor from beyond the arc, hitting 3 of 4 three-point attempts.
