Westminster College (MO.) Holds off Eureka, 84-81

FULTON, MO – The Eureka men's basketball team was unable to come away with a win against Westminster on Sunday, falling 84-81. 

In a very tightly contested matchup, the Red Devils and Blue Jays were never separated by more than 3 possessions, swapped shares of the lead 10 times, and were pulled even 12 times. The difference ultimately came down to shooting percentage, as the Blue Jays managed to shoot 49.2% from the field (29-59) compared to Eureka's 39.4% (26-66).  

Cody Baer (Peoria, Ill./Dunlap/Southwestern Illinois) tallied his eighth double-double this season, leading the team in scoring with 24 points and adding ten rebounds and a block. Eureka guard Peewee Brown (Peoria, Ill./Manual/Lincoln) also recorded a double-double, putting up 22 points and matching Baer's 10 boards. It was Brown's first double-double of the season. 

Noah Persich (Peoria, Ill./Metamora) and Andrew Coker (Washington, Ill./Washington) joined Baer and Brown in double figures, putting up 10 and 11 points, respectively. Ben Carter (Morton, Ill./Morton) added 8 points for the Red Devils. 

Three Blue Jays ended in double digits. Walker Gohring and Brennan Jeffries combined for 48 of Westminster's 84 points. Aaron Poage added another 10 points off the bench. 

Eureka (4-11, 2-6 SLIAC) will return home for a conference contest against Greenville (10-5, 6-2 SLIAC) on Wednesday at 7:30 PM CST.
