For Third Time, Cody Baer Named SLIAC Player of the Week

EUREKA, Ill. – For the second straight week and the third time this season, Eureka's Cody Baer (Peoria, Ill./Dunlap/Southwestern Illinois) is the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week.

The 6-foot-10 junior transfer averaged 25 points and 15.5 rebounds per game while shooting an impressive 72 percent from the field in a pair of league wins this week.

On Wednesday, Baer dropped 26 points and pulled down 12 rebounds in an 85-69 win over Blackburn at Christine Bonati Bollwinkle Arena and Convocation Center. He shot 11-for-12 from the field and made 4 of 5 from the free-throw line.

Three days later, the Red Devils returned to their home floor, and Baer recorded 24 points and 19 rebounds in an 85-69 victory over Westminster. This time, he shot 7-for-13 from the floor and made 10 of 12 free-throw attempts. He finished the week with five blocks, three steals and two assists.

Baer now leads the SLIAC in rebounding with 11.4 boards per game and is second in scoring with 18.2 points per game. He ranks fourth in the SLIAC in field-goal percentage at 53.4 percent.

Eureka defended its home court twice last week, and the Red Devils are looking to pick up their third straight win at Webster (10-11, 7-3 SLIAC) on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
