ST. LOUIS, Mo. – After showing out at the Lopata Classic this weekend, Eureka's Cody Baer (Peoria, Ill./Dunlap/Southwestern Illinois) is the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week.

The Red Devils' 6-foot-10 junior forward exploded for 23.5 points and 17.5 rebounds per game in two games at the 38th annual tournament at Washington University this weekend.

He tallied a career-high 28 points on 11-for-19 shooting and had 13 rebounds against No. 23 Washington on Friday evening, then he turned around and put up 19 points and grabbed an eyebrow-raising 22 rebounds against the Olivet the next. After Saturday's game, he was selected to the Lopata Classic All-Tournament Team.

Baer's 22-rebound total in the Olivet game put him tied for second in SLIAC history. He is now one of only five players in the country to rack up 22 rebounds in a game this season, and is the first Red Devil to reach 20 since Greg Kent's 20-board game in a 65-59 win over Iowa Wesleyan on Feb. 24, 2015.

Through nine games, Baer is averaging 15.8 points and 9.7 rebounds per game, and he has recorded three double-doubles in his last four games. He is Eureka's first SLIAC Player of the Week recipient of the season.

Eureka (1-8) will next face NCAA Division I Western Illinois (4-4) at Vibrant Arena at The MARK in Moline, Illinois, on Friday, Dec. 16 at 7:30 p.m.
