Brooks, Daniels Earn National Academic Honor

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Jordan Brooks (St. Joseph, Ill./St. Joseph-Ogden) and Chris Daniels (Peoria, Ill./Peoria) have been named to the 2020-21 National Association of Basketball Coaches Honors Court, recognizing men's collegiate basketball student-athletes in all NCAA divisions and the NAIA who excelled in academics during the past season. Daniels is a repeat Honors Court honoree after earning the same honor last season.

In order to be named to the Honors Court, a student-athlete must meet a high standard of academic criteria. Student-athletes must academically be a junior or senior and a varsity player, own cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the 2020-21 academic year, have matriculated at least one year at their current institution and be a member of a NCAA Division I, II, III, or NAIA Division I or II institution with an NABC member coach.

Brooks just wrapped his first season as a Red Devil after transferring from NJCAA Lincoln Land last summer. The sports management major came off the bench in all 11 contests, averaging 5.5 points in 16.5 minutes per game as one of Eureka's top reserves. He set or matched season highs with 11 points and three assists in the Red Devils' road win at Spalding on March 25.

Daniels is on the Honors Court for the second consecutive year and graduated from Eureka College in May with a degree in businesss administration. He was an All-SLIAC Second Team pick in 2020-21, averaging 18.0 points per game while shooting 43.4 percent from the field. He was the Red Devils' leader in assists with 4.1 per game and and also contributed 5.5 rebounds per game. Daniels earned his first SLIAC Player of the Week award after posting a team-high 21 points while distributing a team-high five assists in the Red Devils' 85-78 season-opening home win over Iowa Wesleyan on Feb. 20. He had six 20-point games, including a 28-point performance at Illinois College on Feb. 25. Daniels finished his 35-game Eureka career with 379 points, 144 rebounds and 88 assists.
