Chris Daniels Named SLIAC Player of the Week for First Time

EUREKA – For the first time in his career, Eureka's Chris Daniels (Peoria, Ill./Peoria) is the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week.

The 6-foot-2 senior guard posted a team-high 21 points on 9-of-17 shooting from the field while distributing a team-high five assists in the Red Devils' 85-78 non-conference home win over Iowa Wesleyan on Saturday.

Daniels didn't commit a single turnover in 36 minutes. He also gathered four boards, recorded one steal and provided quality defense for the maroon and gold.

Going back to last season, this is the EC men's basketball team's second consecutive Player of the Week honor, as Dakota Bennington was named SLIAC Player of the Week on Feb. 24, 2020 after EC's 137-129 season-finale win over Greenville. It's also Eureka's first Player of the Week award of the 2020-21 season in any sport.

The Red Devils (1-0) will take on Fontbonne (0-2) in a road non-conference game on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
