Penberthy Breaks School Record at Metamora Fields

METAMORA, Ill. – The Eureka men's and women's golf teams made the short trip to Metamora on Wednesday, competing against Westminster and Fontbonne for the women, and Westminster and Carl Sandburg for the men.
Sophomore Gabby Penberthy led the way for the Red Devils on the women's side, posting a school record-breaking score of 81, which earned her a tie for first overall on the individual leaderboard alongside Annie McFee of Fontbonne. Penberthy's performance surpassed the previous Eureka College record of 82 set by Ashlyn Voyles in 2023 at Lincoln Greens Golf Course. Voyles also participated on Wednesday, finishing with a score of 89, placing her fifth overall.
The Eureka women's golf team took first place at the meet with a total score of 402. Westminster finished second with 418, while Fontbonne claimed third with 434.
On the men's side, Tyler Platz and Carson Wiese led the charge, shooting 79 and 80, respectively. Platz finished fifth overall, while Wiese tied for sixth with Tanner Wake of Carl Sandburg. The Eureka men's team placed third with a score 348, behind Carl Sandburg's 297 and Westminster's 334.
