McDonald Named NCBWA National Rookie of the Week

EUREKA, Ill. – Eureka freshman Ethan McDonald (Mannford, Okla./Mannford) has been named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association NCAA Division III Rookie of the Week.

Earlier this week, McDonald was recognized as the SLIAC Pitcher of the Week. Now, he adds another accolade to his collection after an impressive collegiate pitching debut, in which he threw a no-hitter, striking out 16 batters over seven innings against Maranatha Baptist on March 10.

In his second career start on March 15 against Wooster, McDonald pitched 5.2 innings, striking out four batters while allowing three runs on four hits.

McDonald and the Red Devils return to action as they begin SLIAC play with a home doubleheader against Webster on Saturday, March 22. The first game is scheduled to begin at 12:00 p.m.
