EUREKA – For the second time this season, Mike Dunne (Bartonville, Ill./Limestone/Lincoln Land) is the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week.

The sophomore southpaw racked up nine strikeouts and only allowed one earned run on three hits and zero walks in an 11-2, complete-game victory over Blackburn on Sunday. He posted a 1.00 ERA while holding the Beavers to a .100 batting average on the day.

This is the third time this season that Eureka has garnered SLIAC Pitcher of the Week honors.

Dunne was the first Red Devil to garner the award this season on March 6 and right-handed senior Nathan Garard (Gibson City, Ill./Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley) received it for the second time in his career on March 27.

This weekend, Dunne was one part of a three-headed monster on the mound for the Red Devils that turned in three straight complete-game victories against the Beavers.

Garard tallied 10 K's over 10 innings and only gave up one earned run in the team's 5-2 series opener, and junior lefty Ryan Bredeson (Washington, Ill./Washington) closed it out by notching eighth strikeouts while allowing just three runs over nine innings in an 8-3 triumph in the series finale.

It was the first time under sixth-year coach Jerry Rashid that the Red Devils have had three consecutive complete-game victories in a series sweep.

On Tuesday at 6 p.m., Eureka (9-21) will take on Augustana (26-6) on the road in non-conference action.
