EUREKA – After seven close innings, Greenville notched four runs in the eighth inning to pull away for an 8-2 win over Eureka at Henry Sand Field on Saturday.

The first six innings were a pitchers' duel between Eureka's Michael Wiley (Cambridge, Ill./Cambridge/Lincoln) and Greenville's Lucas Teel.

Wiley pitched four scoreless innings, then allowed a pair of runs in the fifth before exiting. He allowed two earned runs on four hits and four walks and had a pair of strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings. It was his best and longest pitching performance of the season.

Teel threw five scoreless innings before getting into trouble and exiting in the sixth. He ended up getting the win, allowing just two earned runs on five hits and two walks and striking out five batters.

After the Panthers put two runs on the board in the fifth, Eureka evened the score with a pair in the sixth off a two-run double to right field by Chase Ulrich (East Peoria, Ill./East Peoria/Illinois Central College).

Greenville took the lead with two more in the seventh and put it away with their four-run rally in the eighth. Eureka was unable to find an answer the rest of the way.

The Red Devils posted 10 hits to Greenville's 11, but they couldn't convert them into runs.

Ulrich, David Hidden (East Peoria, Ill./East Peoria) and Nick Rulevish (Addieville, Ill./Okawville) all recorded multi-hit games in the loss.

Eureka (6-20, 4-11 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) will next take on Illinois Wesleyan (10-17) in non-conference action on the road on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
