EUREKA – For the second time in his career, Nathan Garard (Gibson City, Ill./Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley) is the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week.

Garard, a senior right-handed ace for the Red Devils, struck out 14 batters and only allowed one earned run on six hits in a complete-game, 4-2 SLIAC win over Principia on Friday. He didn't allow a single walk and he recorded 95 strikes out of 130 pitches over nine innings.

His 14 strikeouts were a season high and tied his career high, which he set when he nearly threw a no-hitter in a 7-1 win against Knox at the Corn Crib last March. Garard is third among SLIAC pitchers in strikeouts with 35 on the season.

This is Eureka's second SLIAC Pitcher of the Week award of the season, following Mike Dunne's (Bartonville, Ill./Limestone/Lincoln Land) selection on March 6.

The Red Devils (6-10, 4-2 SLIAC) are coming off a three-game sweep of the Panthers and have won four of their last five games. They will host North Park (5-13) in non-conference action at Henry Sand Field on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
