Millikin overpowers Eureka in non-conference tilt

EUREKA, Ill. – Eureka College baseball senior Nick Passini (Dalzell, Ill./St. Bede Academy [IVCC]) collected his second three-hit game of the season, but the visiting Millikin Big Blue scored 14 runs on 18 hits to take down the host, 14-7, in a non-conference tilt, Thursday afternoon at Henry Sand Field.

Eureka pounded out 16 hits (16-for-41) of their own, paced by Passini's 3-for-5 effort, but were only able to put seven runs across.

Passini, sophomore Ray Vogel (Bartonville, Ill./Limestone) and freshman Jake Miller (Washington, Ill./Washington) provided Eureka with two RBIs a piece.

Senior Trevor Froehling (Cissna Park, Ill./Cissna Park [Millikin]) faced the minimum in the ninth in relief, recording a fly out, strike out and ground out.

The Red Devils will turn around and travel to Iowa Wesleyan tomorrow to conclude the series against the Tigers. First pitch of the finale is set for 4 p.m.
