Bio
Carls, a linebacker for the football team, was a three-time All-Upper Midwest Athletics Conference First Team honoree from 2011-13. His total of 371 tackles is the most of any player in a Eureka uniform since 2000 and his 106 total tackles in 2012 is the fourth-most in a single season since 2000.
He is first in assisted tackles since 2000 with 242, tied for first in assisted tackles in a single season with 81 in 2012 and fourth in solo tackles since 2000 with 129. And he racked up 33 tackles for a loss (third since 2000), 7 ½ sacks (tied for ninth) and five interceptions (tied for 10th).
A three-year defensive captain for head coach Kurt Barth, Carls also helped the Red Devils earn their first winning season in 13 years in 2013.
