Pair of Freshmen Lead Eureka in Season-Opening Meet

NORMAL – The Eureka cross country team competed in its first official fall meet since 2016 on Wednesday evening.

The Red Devils opened the 2021 fall season at the Titan Opener at Maxwell Park in Normal.

The men's team competed in a three-mile run, while the women ran a two-mile race.

On the men's side, freshman Nick Rulevish led the way for the Red Devils in his first. He placed 93rd in a loaded field with a time of 19:24.

He was followed closely behind senior Javy Garcia, who was 96th in 19:33, while senior Bryce Logsdon (24:13) and freshmen Collin Lister (26:30) and Hayden Skaggs (29:57) rounded out the field for the Red Devils.

Another freshman, Odessa Grove, paced the Red Devils on the women's side, coming in 65th with a time of 16:15. Classmate Isabella Carbajal came in 71st with a time of 17:10, while sophomore Riley Reuter (18:05), senior Nikki Tye (21:54) and Callie Aten (23:37) followed.

The Red Devils will next compete in the Titan/Hawk Invite in Maxwell Park next Friday at 5 p.m.
