ROCKFORD, Ill. – The Eureka softball team dropped a pair of games on the road against Rockford on Sunday.

The Regents opened with a 16-2 win over the Red Devils, then kept EC off the board in a 9-0 Game 2.

Game 1: Rockford 16, Eureka 2

Rockford racked up 16 runs on 10 hits and five walks, notching six extra-base hits along the way.

Eureka produced two runs on five hits. Morgan Ledbetter (Hanna City, Ill./Elmwood) went for 2-for-2 with a pair of RBIs. Raelyn Payne (Lexington, Ill./Lexington) doubled, while Jordan Heinz (Washington, Ill./Washington) and Allison Cagley (Fairbury, Ill./Prairie Central) both had base hits for the Red Devils.

The Red Devils scored the first run of the game in the top of the first inning. Heinz and Cagley both singled with one out, and then Ledbetter singled to right to make it 1-0.

Two innings later, Ledbetter drove in Heinz again to plate EC's second run. That made it a three-run game, but Rockford came back with five more runs in the bottom half and tallied six more in the fourth.
