Sweitzer Field

The Eureka College softball team plays its home games at Sweitzer Field, the same on-campus facility that once served as home for Eureka’s first NCAA Tournament team in school history.

The field was dedicated for longtime former head coach Karen Sweitzer on Sept. 15, 2018. Sweitzer was the head coach of the EC softball program from 1991 until 2008 and was the winner of 310 games, the most by a female head coach in the history of the institution. The Red Devils earned their first NCAA Division III Tournament bid in school history under Sweitzer's guidance when EC went 21-15 in 2002 and received an at-large bid to the Bloomington, Ill. regional. She was the first female head coach to take a Eureka College team to the national postseason.

Less than six months after the dedication, the Red Devils went 15-3 on their home diamond in 2019. The success at Sweitzer Field included 10 consecutive home wins to close the regular season and a doubleheader sweep of Spalding on April 28, 2019 that secured Eureka's first St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference softball title and springboarded the Red Devils to their second NCAA Tournament bid.

Sweitzer Field has a two-story press box that allows for game operations, media and equipment storage. The facility also includes two covered concrete dugouts and bullpens.
