Eureka Cross Country Competes in Decatur

DECATUR, Ill. – The Eureka cross country team competed at the H.W. Wright Classic at South Shores Park on Friday evening.

The Red Devils fielded five runners in the women's race and, due to injuries, just one runner in the men's race.

Freshman Odessa Grove (Lewistown, Ill./Lewistown) was Eureka's top finisher, coming in 37th in 32:13. She was followed by sophomore Riley Reuter (Henry, Ill./Henry-Senachwine) and freshman Isabella Carbajal (Chicago, Ill./Shepard), who took 39th and 41st in 33:14 and 34:15, respectively.

Sophomore Sophia Simonis (West Frankfurt, Ill./West Frankfurt) and senior Nikki Tye (Kewanee, Ill./Wethersfield) rounded out the team's scorers in the women's race, finishing in 47th and 48th in 42:57 and 43:05, respectively.

On the men's side freshman Collin Lister (Normal, Ill./University) came in 67th in a loaded field with a time of 46:10.

The Red Devils will next compete in Jacksonville on Saturday, Oct. 9.
