Webster Tops Eureka in Three Sets

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Eureka volleyball team dropped a St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match at Webster in three sets on Tuesday.

Two of three sets – the first and third – were close contests that were decided late, but the final scores were 25-21, 25-13, 25-21.

Brooklyn Shell (Evansville, Ind./Mount Vernon) tallied a team-high eight kills and 22 digs for the Red Devils. Libero Regan Reed (Flanagan, Ill./Flanagan-Cornell) all reached double-digit digs, finishing with 13.

Frannie Heckman (Benson, Ill./Roanoke-Benson) and Alexis Charlton (Eureka, Ill./Eureka) each had six kills, while Daizjah Shannon added (East Saint Louis, Mo./Cahokia) five. Heckman hit a team-best .238 on the night.

Hope McGinnes (Mackinaw, Ill./Deer Creek-Mackinaw) distributed 20 assists.

Webster's Madison Katz and Kaylee Portree each reached double-digit kills, posting 11 and 10, respectively. Tyler Rmastak followed with eight, while Abby Jacobs notched six and hit .545.

The Red Devils (5-8, 0-4 SLIAC) will host Greenville (7-5, 3-0 SLIAC) on Wednesday in their long-awaited first home match of the season. First serve at Christine Bonati Bollwinkle Arena will take place at 7 p.m.
