Fontbonne Earns Sweep over EC, 3-0

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Eureka's Brooklyn Shell (Evansville, Ind./Mount Vernon) tallied a team-high 11 kills, but the Red Devils fell to Fontbonne in three sets on Thursday. The final scores were 25-14, 25-19, 25-21.

The Red Devils hit .128 in the match and opened the match with a .222 first set. The home team, however, was more powerful and efficient, hitting .233 and racking up more than 15 kills per set.

Shell hit a team-best .212 on the night and didn't commit a single hitting error in 33 attacks. Emma Harris (Streator, Ill./Streator) and Corinne DeBoard (Centralia, Ill./Christ Our Rock Lutheran) each contributed five kills, while Regan Reed (Flanagan, Ill./Flanagan-Cornell had four kills to go with 12 digs.

Libero Jordyn Fox (Pontiac, Ill./Pontiac) came up with a team-high 13 digs and setter Faith Catour (Orion, Ill./Orion) notched 23 assists.

Reed landed a team-high three aces and Fox had two. Katelin Peters (New Berlin, Ill./New Berlin) had three block assists and Reed had two.

Jadyn Fitzgerald tallied a match-high 14 kills, along with 13 digs. Emma Pramik posted a team-high 18 digs. Ella Werner-Click distributed 41 assists.

The Red Devils got hot late in the third set, ripping off a 5-0 run to make it 23-21, but the Griffins came up with a kill and an ace to end it.

On Tuesday, Eureka (4-12, 0-4 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) will vie for their first conference win at Blackburn (0-17, 0-4 SLIAC). First serve is set for 7 p.m.
