EUREKA – The Eureka volleyball team pushed Webster in every set on Tuesday, but the Gorloks held off the Red Devils in a sweep at Christine Bonati Bollwinkle Arena and Convocation Center. The final score of the Homecoming match was 25-16, 25-20, 25-16.

Corinne DeBoard (Centralia, Ill./Christ Our Rock Lutheran) and Brooklyn Shell (Evansville, Ind./Mount Vernon) both notched a team-high six kills. Shell, a freshman outside hitter, also notched a team-high 12 digs. Regan Reed (Flanagan, Ill./Flanagan-Cornell) followed with 11 digs, while setter Faith Catour (Orion, Ill./Orion) registered 17 assists.

Emma Harris (Streator, Ill./Streator) and Katelin Peters (New Berlin, Ill./New Berlin) had three kills apiece. Megan Masching (Pontiac, Ill./Pontiac) and Reed each contributed two aces and Jordyn Fox (Pontiac, Ill./Pontiac) had one.

Webster's Mary Nelson notched a team-high 11 kills, along with 15 assists. Lauren Borik and Ali Spohr each had eight kills.

The closest set of the night was the final one.

Both teams were neck-and-neck in the early going, each trading points and scoring no more than two in a row until Eureka went on a 4-0 run to make it 9-5. Webster answered with a 4-0 run of its own and wrested the lead away by claiming six of the next seven points.

The Red Devils kept it close for the next few points, tying the match at 14-14. Then, Webster got hot and scored the next eight points. That made it 22-14. A kill by Reed ended the run and a hitting error made it 22-16, but Webster kills on two of the last three sets ended it.

Eureka (4-11, 0-3 in St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play) will next head to Fontbonne (2-7, 2-1 SLIAC) to continue conference play on Thursday at 7 p.m.
