EUREKA — The Eureka volleyball came out on the wrong end of a sweep with another strong St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference foe on Wednesday.

Westminster took down the Red Devils in straight sets, 25-15, 25-12, 25-12, at Christine Bonati Bollwinkle Arena.

The Blue Jays hit .292 on the night while racking up 41 kills. Ashley Kistaitis notched a match-high 16 kills and had just one hitting error in 32 attacks – good for a .469 kill efficiency.

Teresa Becker distributed 13 assists, and libero Erica Schrader came up with a match-high 13 digs.

Despite a slow start, the Red Devils managed to make the first relatively competitive. They hit .175 with nine kills and only two hitting errors in Set 1. But in Sets 2 and 3, EC's hitting errors piled up and its kill efficiency dipped into the negatives.

Senior Ariel Campbell (Decatur, Ill./Cerro Gordo) posted a team-high eight kills for the Red Devils and added six digs. Setter Katlyn Arrenholz (Delvan, Ill./Delevan) registered 14 assists, while libero Megan Masching (Pontiac, Ill./Pontiac) had a team-high 12 digs.

Junior Caitlin Miller (Washignton, Ill./Washington) contributed six kills.

The Red Devils opened the match in an 11-2 hole, but EC came within four after back-to-back kills by Campbell and Miller.

The Blue Jays won nine 9 of the next 14 points to take a 1-0 lead in the match.

EC kept the second set close for the first 24-points; however, after an Arrenholz ace made it 14-10, Westminster ripped off a 6-0 run that made it 20-10. The Blue Jays stayed in charge from there.

Eureka (5-20, 2-12 SLIAC) will head to MacMurray for a noon match on Saturday. Then, next Wednesday at 7 p.m., the Red Devils will host Iowa Wesleyan for senior night.
