EC Volleyball Picks Up Pair of Wins in Milwaukee

MILWAUKEE, WIS. -- The Eureka volleyball team took care of business in its first tournament of the year on Friday, sweeping its first two matches at the Blue Angels Bash in Milwaukee.

The Red Devils picked up their first win of the year against North Central (Minn.), sweeping the Rams in three sets, 25-16, 26-24, 26-24.

They followed that with a 25-17, 25-11, 25-15 sweep over the home team, Mount Mary. With the win, Eureka improved to 2-1 on the year. 

In the third set against North Central (Minn.), Eureka trailed by five and rallied to take the set and complete the sweep. 

In the win over the Rams, setter Sara Worrell (Jacksonville, Ill./Routt Catholic) produced her first double-double of the season, totaling 19 assists and 18 digs. Paige Klingler (Newton, Ill./Newton) added 11 digs. 

Annaliese Miller (Chenoa, Ill./Prairie Central) chipped in seven kills, and Ariel Campbell (Decatur, Ill./Cerro Gordo H.S) followed with six, while McKenzie Reiners (Milford, Ill/Milford) and Corinne DeBoard (Centralia, Ill./Christ Rock Lutheran) added five. 

Worrell took over again with her second double-double of the evening, racking up 25 assists and 11 digs in the nightcap. Cailey Dufort (Lombard, Ill/Glenbard East) contributed 14 digs of her own, and Klingler once again made an impact with six assists and 10 digs. 

Eureka will be back in action tomorrow for two more matches of tournament play. They'll start the day at 9:30 a.m. against Beloit and conclude the tournament against Silver Lake at 12 p.m.
