Eureka Drops a Pair in SLIAC Play

GREENVILLE, Ill. – The Eureka College volleyball team dropped a pair of St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference contests, falling in straight sets to Webster (25-9. 25-12, 25-18) and Greenville (25-12, 25-15, 25-12), Saturday in Greenville, Ill.

Freshman middle back Gabrielle Moody (Peoria, Ill./Richwoods) tallied seven kills in a loss to the Gorloks, while freshman defensive specialist Jordan Detmers (Hartsburg, Ill./Hartsburg-Emden) led the Red Devils defensively with 11 digs. Fellow freshman setter Heather Robinson (Peoria, Ill./Limestone) also registered as double-digit dig total with 10.

In the night cap against the host, Robinson led Eureka with five kills and seven digs. Sophomore setter Meagan Hanney (Sherman, Ill./Williamsville) handed out a team-high eight assists.

Eureka will return to non-conference action Tuesday night at 7 p.m. vs. RMU-Springfield in Eureka, Ill. The game will be played at Eureka Middle School due to the continued construction of the Reagan Athletic Center.
