Red Devils Drop a Pair in SLIAC Quad Match

EUREKA, Ill. – The Eureka College volleyball team dropped a pair of St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matches, falling to Fontbonne (25-12, 25-14, 25-21) and MacMurray (25-14, 20-25, 25-18, 27-25), Saturday in the debut of the new Christine Bonati-Bollwinkle Arena on the campus of Eureka College.

Sophomore Anna Gauger (El Paso, Ill./El Paso-Gridley) led the EC attack offensively with nine kills, while freshman Heather Robinson (Peoria, Ill./Limestone) was next with eight kills. Sophomore Meagan Hanney (Sheman, Ill./Williamsville) led Eureka with 13 assists. Hanney also tallied a pair of service aces.

Robinson led the Red Devils defensively, collecting a game-high 16 digs in the first match.

Robinson collected a double-double in the night cap with 10 kills and 13 digs, while Gauger chipped in nine kills and freshman Lexi Dooley (Sutter, Ill./Warsaw) added seven. Hanney recorded a game-high 17 assists for EC.

Sophomore Cassandra Beesley (Bunker Hill, Ill./Bunker Hill) led the defensive charge with 27 digs, while Dooley provided 14 and Hanney supplied 12 digs in game two.

Eureka will continue home conference play on Tuesday, when they host the Greenville Panthers. Scheduled start time of the match is set for 7 p.m.
