Women’s Soccer Loses at Knox

GALESBURG, Ill. – The Eureka women's soccer team suffered an 8-0 defeat to Knox on Saturday afternoon following a weather delay.

The Prairie Fire opened the scoring just nine minutes into the match. They quickly extended their lead, adding two goals in the 21st minute to make it 3-0 early on. Knox added two more in the 36th and 44th minutes, taking a commanding 5-0 lead into halftime.

Before the second half could kickoff, the game was halted for a lengthy weather delay due to lightning in the area. Eventually, the teams were cleared to return to the field, and the second half commenced.

After the break, Knox added three additional goals, securing an 8-0 victory.

Knox outshot Eureka 35-1, with 24 shots on goal compared to none for Eureka. Freshman goalkeeper Megan Edwards (Manchester, Mich./Manchester) made her first start for the Red Devils, recording 14 saves in 45 minutes of play. Daphne Collette (Murray, Utah/Murray) recorded Eureka's only shot of the day.
