Eureka Falls to Earlham in Season Opener, 5-0

RICHMOND, Ind. – Earlham took down Eureka women's soccer 5-0 in its season-opening match on Saturday.

The team put away five goals on 45 shots – 26 of which were on frame.

Mallory Smith and Evan Lyon each had a pair of goals, while Mollie Lyon scored once.

Eureka goalkeepers Alicia Bruketta (Norris, Ill./Canton) and Lizzie Brooksher (Saint Charles, Mo./Saint Charles) combined for 20 saves. The latter notched 12, while the former had eight. Both were making their collegiate debuts.

Jenna Kinney (Washington, Ill/Washington), Daniela Gonzales (Peoria, Ill./Richwoods/Lincoln), Ellie Livengood (Washington, Ill./Washington), Sydney Gabbard (Stilesville, Ind./Cascade), Abby Mitchell (Peoria, Ill./Illinois Valley Central) and Isabella Tolentino (Mendota, Ill./Mendota) all played the full 90 for the Red Devils.

All but Gonzales all made their collegiate debuts, along with Elly Maier (Clinton, Ill./Clinton) and Emma Jones (Lincoln, Ill./Lincoln).

The Red Devils (0-1) will look to bounce back on Sunday, when they take on Defiance (1-0) on the road at 11 a.m.
