EUREKA — The Eureka women's soccer team dropped a 4-2 match against Spalding in St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play on Friday afternoon at McKinzie Field.

The Red Devils held a 2-1 lead at halftime, but the Golden Eagles put away three goals in the second half to secure the team's fourth straight win.

Sydney Grant (Morton, Ill./Morton) scored her second goal of the season following a free kick by Lindsey Johnston (Evansville, Ind./Harrison). After a scrum in the box, Grant found the back of the net in the 37th minute. That made it 1-1 and a goal off a counter by Madison Shines (Marengo, Ill./Marengo) in the 43rd gave EC the lead.

The Golden Eagles came back with goals in the 55th, 71st and 78th to seal the result while shorthanded. Baeli Young scored three of the four goals for Spalding.

Eureka (1-2, 1-2 SLIAC) will next face Greenville on the road next Friday.
