Abby Swope Sets Program Record for Saves in Loss to Finlandia

HANCOCK, Mich. – Sophomore goalkeeper Abby Swope (Canton, Ill./Canton) had another standout afternoon in the net for the Eureka women's soccer team on Sunday, but the Red Devils fell to Finlandia 8-0 in a non-conference  road match.

Swope, who notched a career-high 24 saves earlier this week against Edgewood, recorded a program-record 42 saves this time around. She now has 366 career saves -- good for third on EC's all-time list.

Finlandia's Addie Budzinksi notched a hat trick for the Lions, netting three goals in 19 minutes. Kirsten L'Esperance and Daisia Knowles scored two goals apiece, and Meaghan Mally was responsible for the remaining one.

The Lions found the back of the net five times in the first half and tacked on three more goals in the second.

The Red Devils (0-6-0) will take on Elmhurst (4-2-1) on Tuesday in another road match at 7 p.m.
