EC Women’s Soccer Competes, Drops 4-2 match at Mount Mary

MILWAUKEE, Wis. — The Eureka College women's soccer team found the back of the net twice, but fell to Mount Mary 4-2 on Saturday.

Trailing 2-0, the Red Devils scored twice in the first half to make it 2-2.

Freshman Madison Shines (Marengo, Ill./Marengo Community) put away a penalty kick in the 23rd minute, recording the first goal of her collegiate career and the first goal of the season for the Red Devils.

Then, in the 32nd, junior transfer Michaela Mall (Princton, Ill./Princeton) knocked on in off a touch in the middle of the box to equalize the match.

However, Mount Mary took the lead before the end of the half and added an insurance goal in the second half.

Eureka sophomore goalkeeper Abby Swope (Canton, Ill./Canton) tallied eight goals, surpassing Lindsay Coffey for fourth in saves in program history with 264.

The Red Devils will next take on Faith Baptist Bible on Saturday at 4 p.m.
