Eureka Finishes Season With Loss

Eureka, Ill. -- Senior Kaitlyn West (Fort Worth, TX/Haltom) scored the lone goal for the Red Devils in a 3-1 loss to the Blackburn Beavers. The loss concluded a 4-14-1, 1-8 SLIAC season.

At the soggy and muddy Traister Field, the Eureka College Women's Soccer team came out with a strong defense. The defense, led by goalkeeper Kalionna Mathews (Troy, Ill./Triad), retained a clean slate until the 24th minute with a goal by Blackburn's Adriana Darrow. At the 30th minute, Blackburn committed a foul 20 yards away from their goal, and West capitalized on the free kick.

West and Faith Williams (Robinson, Ill./Robinson) led the team with two shots. West had two on frame. Mathews collected 10 saves on the day to wrap up the season.

Congratulations to seniors Kaitlyn WestKayleigh Choma (Austintown, OH/Fitch) and Faith Williams on a tremendous season and careers. Best of luck to you in the future!
