Red Devils Complete Regular Season Sweep of Greenville with 80-60 Victory

GREENVILLE, Ill. – The Eureka women's basketball team defeated Greenville 80-60 on Wednesday, leading for all but one minute of the game.

Eureka got off to a strong start, quickly establishing control. Allannah Jackson (Peoria, Ill./Peoria) sparked the Red Devils early, tying the game at 2-2 with a pair of free throws, before Miya Webb (Indianapolis, Ind./Brownsburg) drilled a 3-pointer, assisted by Maxine Najera (Riverside, Calif./Hillcrest), giving Eureka its first lead. From there, the Red Devils continued to build momentum, with Sierra Garcia-Reisch (Las Animas, Colo./La Junta) adding a 3-pointer to push the lead to 16-6. Eureka finished the first quarter with a 24-16 advantage.

In the second quarter, Greenville mounted a comeback, with Baylie Joiner and Carolina Hoffman both scoring quick layups to trim the deficit. However, Eureka answered with key contributions from Jackson, who scored a pair of crucial layups, and Webb, who added a 3-pointer. Despite some turnovers that allowed the Panthers to stay within striking distance, Eureka took a 43-36 lead into halftime.

The third quarter was a back-and-forth battle, with both teams scoring 14 points. Maxine Najera made several strong plays, including an assist and a jumper, while Miya Webb continued to add timely baskets. Elena Redgate (Metamora, Ill./Metamora) also made her presence felt with a tip-in, helping Eureka maintain a 57-50 lead heading into the final period.

Eureka pulled away in the fourth quarter, outscoring Greenville 23-10 in the final 10 minutes. Redgate led the charge, scoring a jumper and a 3-pointer to put the game out of reach. Webb added a layup and two free throws in the final minute to seal the win at 80-60.
