Red Devils Put Up Big Numbers, Rock MacMurray, 93-58

EUREKA — For the second time this season, the Eureka women's basketball team racked up over 90 points on Saturday.

The Red Devils improved to 3-1 in St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play with a 93-58 win victory over MacMurray at Christine Bonati Bollwinkle Arena.

Four Red Devils scored over 15 points each, with freshman Whitney Bozarth's (Normal, Ill./Normal West) 21-point, 6-assist effort on 8-of-14 shooting leading the way.

Sophomore Olivia Falls (Bloomington, Ill./Bloomington) followed with a double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds while shooting 7-for-9 from the field and 6-for-7 from the free-throw line.

Senior Ja'Keesha Hawkins (Peoria, Ill./Peoria) delivered a career-high 18 points while shooting 7-for-14 from the field and nailing four triples, and Kennedy Dura (Edwards, Ill./Brimfield) notched 16 points and hit four 3s, as well.

Marissa Murphy (Canton, Ill./Canton) and Jadyn Mitchell (Flanagan, Ill./Flanagan-Cornel) also both put away one from distance. Ashley Harfst (Saunemin, Ill./Pontiac) pulled down 10 rebounds.

All told, it was the Red Devils' best shooting day of the season. The maroon and gold posted a 47.1 field goal percentage, shooting 32-for-68 from the field. The team also knocked down a season-high 13 3-pointers on 32 tries, and went 16-for-21 at the stripe.

The Highlanders managed to keep it close in the first quarter, but the Red Devils started heating up in the second quarter and never really cooled down, shooting 47.4, 50 and 50 percent in the last three quarters of the game.

The Red Devils held a 19-point lead at halftime and extended it as much as 35 in the second half.

Alaina Vance put up a team-high 17 points for MacMurray, and Alexis Doyle added 13.

Eureka's win was their 18th straight over the Highlanders and 47th in 52 meetings.

The Red Devils (7-4, 3-1 SLIAC) will next take on Iowa Wesleyan (4-7, 1-3) Wednesday on the road at 5:30 p.m.
