Illinois Wesleyan Sinks Red Devils, 94-67

EUREKA, Ill. – Illinois Wesleyan produced a 34-point second quarter to turn a slim first-quarter lead into a 23-point halftime cushion en route to a 94-67 non-conference win over the Eureka College women's basketball team, Monday night at Christine Bonati Bollwinkle Arena. Hayley Reneau (Washington, Ill./Washington H.S./Illinois Central) paced the hosts with a game-high 23 points.

Reneau's basket gave the hosts a lead less than two minutes into the game, but Ashley Schneider answered for the Titans and started a 7-0 run to lead 11-5 at the 6:11 mark of the first quarter. The six-point lead was IWU's largest of the quarter. The Red Devils pulled back within a point and trailed 19-16 at the end of the period.

The Titans opened the second quarter with a flurry, scoring 14 in a row to grab a 33-16 lead. Reneau ended the surge with a basket with 8:13 left and the Red Devils later trailed 41-25 when Reneau connected from long range with 4:40 remaining before halftime. IWU answered by scoring 12 of the next 17 points and took its biggest lead of the half, 53-30, when Kelsey Walsberg banked in a 3 at the first-half buzzer.

IWU led 77-45 after three periods. Eureka closed the game on a 13-2 burst.

Ashley Harfst (Saunemin, Ill./Pontiac H.S.) scored 13 points and Sabrina Clay (Galesburg, Ill./Galesburg H.S./Carl Sandburg) tacked on 12. Kennedy Dura (Edwards, Ill./Brimfield H.S.) and Kerrigan Dura (Edwards, Ill./Brimfield H.S.) finished the game with seven assists apiece.

Molly McGraw tallied 14 points in a winning effort for the Titans. IWU outrebounded the Red Devils 46-39. The visitors turned 29 Eureka turnovers into 37 points and received 50 points from their bench.

Eureka will return to St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action Saturday at 1 p.m. against Blackburn.
