Steve Thompson Voted HERO Sports National Coach of the Year

BELLVUE, Wash. – Third-year Eureka College women's basketball head coach Steve Thompson has been voted D3 Women's Basketball Coach of the Year by HERO Sports, according to an online fan vote conducted by the online publication. HERO Sports is dedicated to the coverage of every collegiate athletics department for men and women in all sports and divisions.

CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. – The Eureka College women’s basketball team saw one of its best seasons in program history come to an end Friday night in the opening round of its first NCAA Tournament, a 97-58 defeat to #2/4 and defending national champion Thomas More at Connor Convocation Center in Crestview Hills, Ky. The decision ended Eureka’s season with a 20-8 record.

EUREKA, Ill. – Eureka College women’s basketball players Hayley Reneau (Washington, Ill./Washington H.S./Illinois Central), Michaela Balducci (Eureka, Ill./Eureka H.S.) and Kerrigan Dura (Edwards, Ill./Brimfield H.S.) were named to the All-St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Team and third-year head coach Steve Thompson was selected SLIAC Coach of the Year, according to an announcement by SLIAC Commissioner Angie Morenz at Thursday’s league tournament at Christine Bonati Bollwinkle Arena.

EUREKA, Ill. – Eureka College junior guard Hayley Reneau (Washington, Ill./Washington H.S./Illinois Central) delivered a game-high 19 points, one of five Red Devils to score in double figures, lifting EC to an 86-55 win over Fontbonne in the 2017 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament semifinals, Thursday night at Christine Bonati Bollwinkle Arena. The Red Devils will advance to host Greenville in Saturday’s SLIAC title game at 1 p.m.

EUREKA, Ill. -- The Eureka College women’s basketball team is back in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament for the sixth consecutive season and the first time as host when the top-seeded Red Devils welcome fourth-seeded Fontbonne for an 8 p.m. semifinal Thursday at Christine Bonati Bollwinkle Arena. Second-seeded Greenville will square off against third-seeded Webster in a 6 p.m. semifinal Thursday night. The semifinal winners will play for the title Saturday at 1 p.m.

EUREKA, Ill. -- The Eureka College women’s basketball team will bring the 2016-17 regular season to a close on Saturday, welcoming St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference rival Iowa Wesleyan to Christine Bonati Bollwinkle Arena for a 1 p.m. start. Eureka will host its annual Senior Day ceremony immediately following the game, honoring Michaela Balducci, Luci Weis and student manager Whitley Gregoire.

SLIAC Champs! Eureka Thumps Westminster For Outright League Title

EUREKA, Ill. – The Eureka College women’s basketball team earned the institution’s first-ever St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference outright team championship on Wednesday, pulling away from Westminster for a 99-75 win at Christine Bonati Bollwinkle Arena. All five starters scored in double figures for the Red Devils, who won their first conference title in a women’s sport since 1997 and will host next week’s SLIAC Tournament.

Hayley Reneau Named SLIAC Player of the Week

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Junior guard Hayley Reneau (Washington, Ill./Washington H.S./Illinois Central) became the fourth Eureka College women’s basketball player to be named St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Week in 2016-17, according to the league’s weekly award announcement on Monday afternoon. Reneau averaged 22.3 points in three league games last week, including a 28-point effort in Wednesday’s win over MacMurray.

EUREKA, Ill. -- Three days removed from clinching a share of the institution’s first-ever St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference team championship, the Eureka College women’s basketball team will try to win the regular-season title outright when the Red Devils welcome Greenville to Christine Bonati Bollwinkle Arena on Saturday at 1 p.m. EC needs one victory in its final three regular-season games to win the outright crown and host the SLIAC Tournament beginning Feb. 23.
