Camden nails buzzer beater to lift Eureka over Hamilton

EUREKA, Ill. – Eureka College women's basketball senior guard Emily Camden (Green Valley, Ill./Midwest Central) knocked down the game-winning jumper with 4 seconds remaining, capping a team-high 16-point effort and lifting the Red Devils to a 48-47 non-conference victory over Hamilton College, Tuesday afternoon in the Third Annual Music City Classic in Nashville, Tenn.

The Continentals were narrowly out in front 16-14 after the first quarter of play inside Trojan Fieldhouse on the campus of Trevecca University, and took a 23-20 lead into halftime. The Red Devils and Continentals combined for just 13 points in the second frame of play, both season lows for EC offensively and defensively.

Eureka and Hamilton changed leads over the third quarter of play, with HC taking a two-point, 35-33, advantage into the final frame of play.

With Hamilton leading by five with 64 seconds left to play, Eureka began to make their comeback started by a steal and fast break layup from junior guard Luci Weis (Bloomington, Ill./Normal Community). Camden knocked down a pair of free throws to cut the deficit to one after a turnover on Hamilton's ensuing possession. After a timeout, Eureka's defense tightened and forced a missed jumper from Hamilton's Graber, allowing the Red Devils a final opportunity and Camden to knock in the game-winning shot.

Sophomore guard Kerrigan Dura (Brimfield, Ill./Brimfield) added nine points, four rebounds and three steals. Freshman forward Lexi Dooley (Sutter, Ill./Warsaw) pulled down a career and game-high 11 rebounds.

HC's Sam Graber paced the visitors with 16 points and nine rebounds, while Lauren Getman tallied 11 points and six boards.
