Five Red Devils Named to 2019 SLIAC Spring All-Academic Team

ST. LOUIS, Mo. — The 2019 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Spring All-Academic Team was released on Thursday, and five Eureka College athletes were selected.

EC baseball sophomore Gregory Cluskey (East Peoria, Ill./Metamora), juniors Kyle Cashdollar (Morton, Ill./Morton) and Brandon Porter (Manhattan, Ill./Lincoln Way Central) and senior Jeremy Sinople (Oak Lawn, Ill./St. Rita), and Eureka softball sophomore Klaire Wilmot (Peru, Ill./La Salle-Peru) all received honors.

Student-athletes must hold a 3.5 cumulative grade point average, be at least a sophomore in academic standing and have been enrolled in at least one full year at their current institution to be eligible for the award.

Cluskey, a biology and environmental science double major, was again one of the Red Devils top arms in the pitching staff this season. He compiled a 6-2 record in 10 starts with one save and one complete game. The right hander logged a team-high 63 innings and racked up a team-high 52 strikeouts.

Cashdollar, a three-time All-Academic selection, is a business major and another valuable option in the Red Devils' pitching staff. In his third active campaign with the maroon and gold, he recorded 25 2/3 innings on the mound over the course of 13 appearances, including two starts. He also went 1-for-3 with three RBIs in his lone start at shortstop in a 10-4 win over Knox.

Porter, who is studying kinesiology, is a two-time All-Academic honoree. The right-handed reliever made 14 appearances on the hill for the Red Devils, recorded one save and tallied 16 innings pitched.

Like Cashdollar, Sinople is a three-time All-Academic honoree. A business administration major, the recent Eureka graduate and outfielder appeared in 28 games and recorded a .978 fielding percentage.

Wilmot, an elementary education major and outfielder, appeared in 32 games, tallied 27 hits, scored 15 runs, plated 21 more, posted four doubles and walked seven times during the Red Devils' historic run to the NCAA Tournament. She also batted .375 during the SLIAC Tournament.
