Red Devils Stifle Blackburn For Fifth Shutout, 2-0

CARLINVILLE, Ill.Michael Hansen (Peoria, Ill./Limestone H.S.) scored 92 seconds into the match, Cole Collins (Paris, Ill./Paris H.S.) delivered insurance in the final five minutes and Moises Aldana (Spring Valley, Ill./Hall H.S.) kept a clean sheet in goal to lift Eureka to a 2-0 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory at Blackburn, Tuesday night in Carlinville, Ill. The win was the Red Devils' fifth shutout of 2018, EC's most in a season in program history.

The Red Devils also earned their seventh overall win of the campaign, one victory shy of tying the single-season school record of eight set in 2015.

Hansen's goal on an assist from Diego Cintora (Watseka, Ill./Watseka H.S.) at 1:32 was all the offense the Red Devils would need and ultimately held up as the match winner. EC outshot the hosts 4-1 in the first 45 minutes.

Collins gave the visitors breathing room at 86:41, finishing a pass from Hansen for a 2-0 lead.

Hansen now has 13 career goals to move within one of Serkan Bakirdan (2009) for sixth place on Eureka's career goals list. His career point total of 35 is also within one of Bakirdan for sixth place on the all-time Eureka points list.

Eureka will play its final match of the season this Saturday at 3 p.m. against SLIAC rival Greenville at McKinzie Field.
