Eureka men roll in victory over Iowa Wesleyan

EUREKA, Ill. - The scoring duo of brothers Sam Feehan (Peoria, Ill./Notre Dame [Illinois Central]) and Shea Feehan (Peoria, Ill./Notre Dame [Lewis]) was on display again Wednesday night inside the Christine Bonati Bollwinkle Arena and Convocation Center, as the Red Devils rolled to an 82-67 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victory over the Iowa Wesleyan Tigers.

The Red Devils now sit at 9-13 overall and 7-8 in conference play. Iowa Wesleyan falls to 13-9 overall and 9-6 in the league.

Eureka built an early 6-2 lead with 17:45 left in the first half before a 14-5 Tiger run would give Iowa Wesleyan a 16-11 edge. EC fought back to regain a 19-18 advantage at the 8:24 mark and following a pair of lead exchanges the Red Devils took 38-31 lead into halftime.

Iowa Wesleyan sliced the deficit to four, 46-42, with 16:06 remaining the contest, but that was as close as the visitors would get. Eureka slowly saw their advantage increase, expanding to as many as 18 points with 92 seconds remaining in the contest. EC shot an eye-popping 63 percent (17-of-27) from the floor in the second half. Shea Feehan scored 18 of his 24 points over the final 20 minutes of play.

The Feehan brothers combined to score 48 of Eureka's 82 points, each scoring 24 points and going 8-of-15 (.533) from the field. Junior Parker Gibson (Pontiac, Ill./Pontiac [St. John's NW Military Academy]) chipped in ten points, while freshman Alex Wiegand (Washington, Ill./Washington) added a game-high nine rebounds, six points, and three blocks.

IW's Steven Archibald and Marquis Jones each scored 17 points apiece to pace the visitors.

The Red Devils will play their final home game of the season on Saturday against the Fontbonne Griffins. SeniorsSam Feehan, Michael Sain, Greg Kent, Tommy Goulding, and Jacob Warner will be honored prior to the 3 p.m. tip-off.
