EC Baseball Loses to Centenary, 12-0

JACKSON, Miss. — The Eureka baseball team dropped its second game of the Millsap Invitational, 12-0, to Centenary Saturday afternoon. 

The Gents held the Eureka to zero runs on six hits. 

Eureka junior Dean Moir (Coal City, Ill./Coal City) had two of the six for the Red Devils, both singles.  

Centenary first took control, scoring five of their 12 runs in the first four innings and tallying three runs in the fourth off two hits and two walks.

Freshman Caleb Wison (Covington, La./Covington Christian) gave Eureka their first hit of the game in the bottom of the fourth inning. 

Jake Carter (Carlinville, Ill./Carlinville), Kyle Christman (Peru, Ill./La Salle-Peru) and Braxten Ary (Green Valley, Ill./Midwest Central) were responsible for the other four hits.

The Red Devils starter Gregory Cluskey (East Peoria, Ill./Metamora) pitched four innings, conceded four runs, three earned on four hits. He struck out one and walked four. 

The bullpen for Eureka surrendered seven additional runs on six hits while walking two.

The Red Devils (1-1) will look to bounce back on Sunday when they take on Edgewood in their final game of the Millsap Invitational. First pitch is scheduled for 10 a.m.
