ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Sophomore Ray Vogel (Bartonville, Ill./Limestone) blasted his sixth home run of the season, a three-run shot to left field, but the Fontbonne Griffins got a game winning single in the ninth to defeat the Eureka College baseball team, 6-5, Sunday afternoon at Shaw Park in St. Louis, Mo.
Vogel's three runs batted in increases his team-leading total to 22 on the season.
Senior Trevor Froehling (Cissna Park, Ill./Cissna Park [Millikin]) finished the afternoon 3-for-4 at the plate with a pair of RBIs and a stolen base.
Freshman Josh Mead (Tampico, Ill./Bureau Valley) tacked on a pair of hit and two stolen bases.
Eureka will be back in action Tuesday at Principia. The conference doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
