Jalen Hosea, Olivia Falls Named Eureka College Student Athlete of the Week

EUREKA – Jalen Hosea (Peoria, Ill./Richwoods) and Olivia Falls (Bloomington, Ill./Bloomington) are this week's recipients of the Eureka College Scholar-Athlete of the Week Award.

The Eureka College Scholar-Athlete of the Week award goes to one male and one female student-athlete every week based on academic achievement and performance in that week's slate of athletic competitions. EC student-athletes must hold at least a cumulative 3.0 grade point average and have completed at least one semester to be eligible for the award.

Hosea, a 5-foot-9 senior point guard, recorded his first career double-double in a 124-119 victory over Greenville last Tuesday. He tallied 10 points and distributed 13 assists while only turning the ball over once in 31 minutes on the floor against the Panthers' notoriously intense "System."

Then, on Saturday, he reached double figures for the third straight game. He registered 10 points, three assists, two rebounds and one steal while shooting 5-of-8 from the floor. This time, he didn't commit a single turnover in 34 minutes.

This is Hosea's third Eureka College Scholar-Athlete of the Week Award of the season and second week in a row receiving it. He is currently majoring in business administration.

Falls, a 5-foot-7 senior guard/forward, received her fourth Eureka College Scholar-Athlete of the Week Award after scoring a team-high 26 points on the road against a tough Westminster team. She shot 12-for-17 from the field and gathered five rebounds.

Earlier in the week, Falls was a point shy of a double-double in a home against Greenville. She finished with 10 rebounds, nine points, two assists and a steal.

A psychology major and leadership minor, Falls is a two-time SLIAC All-Academic honoree and a two-time All-SLIAC honoree.
