FULTON, Mo. – The Eureka volleyball team came up short in a pair of St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matches on Saturday.
The Red Devils fell in three against Westminster and Spalding, respectively.
The Blue Jays held off Eureka, 25-20, 25-21, 25-23.
Frannie Heckman (Benson, Ill./Roanoke-Benson) notched a team-high 11 kills for Eureka, while Brooklyn Shell (Evansville, Ind./Mount Vernon) followed with nine.
Regan Reed (Flanagan, Ill./Flanagan-Cornell) posted a team-high 18 digs. Hope McGinnes (Mackinaw, Ill./Deer Creek-Mackinaw/Lincoln) added 15 digs and 12 assists, and fellow setter Sara Hart (Secor, Ill./Eureka) added 11 assists and seven digs.
Spalding bested the Red Devils, 25-17, 25-13, 25-22.
Heckman had a team-high five kills. Hart distributed 10 assists. Shell came up with a team-high 15 digs and Reed and McGinnes each had 12.
Eureka (5-7, 0-3 SLIAC) will next face Webster (5-5, 0-2 SLIAC) on the road on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
