Red Devils Split, Finish Blue Angels Bash 3-1

MILWAUKEE, WIS. — The Eureka volleyball team finished 3-1 at the Blue Angels Bash after splitting a pair of matches on Saturday.

The Red Devils saw their two-match win streak come to an end in the first match, falling to Beloit in four sets, 25-21, 22-25, 26-24, 25-9.

They responded strong, however, delivering a 25-10, 25-15, 25-14 sweep over the Silver Lake Lakers. With the win, Eureka improved to 3-2 on the year. 

In the loss to the Buccaneers, setter Sara Worrell (Jacksonville, Ill./Routt Catholic) continued her weekend dominance, totaling 26 assists and 25 digs. Paige Klingler (Newton, Ill./Newton) added three assists and 17 digs of her own. 

Both Caitlin Miller (Washington, Ill./Washington) and Ariel Campbell (Decatur, Ill./Cerro Gordo) added eight kills. 

Eureka proceeded to handle the Lakers with relative ease. Worrell once again led the charge for the Red Devils, distributing 31 assists while racking up seven digs.

On the receiving end were Annaliese Miller (Chenoa, Ill/Prairie Central H.S) and Caitlin Miller, both of whom knocked down 10 kills for EC.

After two days off, the Red Devils will be back in action on Tuesday night when they travel to take on non-conference opponent Knox at 7 p.m.
